Batch 01 · checkout is live · 100 units in this wave

One hundred units in this wave. The first four buy the instruments.

This wave is deliberately sized to what we can build well: 100 Core Kits, and the first four of them pay for the bench instruments we need to measure the shielded enclosure. No investors, no crowdfunding platform, nothing sitting in a warehouse — and a registered Ontario business behind the order.

Checkout is live, and the wave is still small

Card checkout is live: the buttons here and on the COLDSTART ANCHOR page open a real payment page, and the order agreement is emailed to you the same day you pay. What has not changed is how many units we will sell at once — 100 in this wave, because that is what we can build well, not what we can sell.

Day 0 is the day you pay, not the day you open this page. This is a prepayment: card charged now, in full, which is what lets us buy the parts at all. We say so here rather than in a footnote. The full written agreement — the disclosures below, the cancellation terms, what is in the box and what is not — reaches your inbox the day the payment clears, and your 7-day cooling-off window starts when you receive it.

The wave closes when it fills. There is no fixed closing date to miss, and the cap is real: once the 100 units are sold we will tell you so rather than take an order we cannot fill, and put your name on the next wave’s list instead. No queue-jumping, and no deposit required to hold a place in line. If you would rather speak to a person before you buy, email admin@turnersoft.ca and we will answer within one business day.

Where the money goes: the bench instruments

A fabrication bench at night: brushed aluminium offcuts, clamps, a coil of conductive gasket mesh and hand tools under a single amber lamp

You cannot sell a measured shield before you own something that measures. The first four Core Kits in this wave pay for the bench below, and nothing about the Shielded Case happens until that bench exists.

ItemWhat it measuresCost
SeeSii TinySA Ultra spectrum analyser, 100 kHz–5.3 GHzEmissions inside and outside the enclosure, band by band$299.99
NanoVNA-H4, 10 kHz–1.5 GHzS21 shielding-effectiveness numbers — the attenuation figures that go on your test sheet$129.99
20–30 dB SMA attenuator and DC blockProtection between the enclosure and the instrument. Inside or beside a shield, signal levels can sit far above the analyser’s input limit; without this you destroy the instrument you just bought.~$40
TotalPaid for by the first four Core Kits~$470

The first four Core Kits at $519 each is $2,076.00 in. Subtract the processing fee, the parts for four kits, and the bench above, and what is left is a margin thin enough that no one would fund it as an investment. That is the honest reason it is not funded as one.

No investors and no crowdfunding platform. There is no Kickstarter page, no all-or-nothing goal, no equity sold and no one to answer to but you. The corollary is that the wave is capped: 100 units is what one pair of hands can build, measure, print and pack properly, and we would rather close a wave than sell a unit we cannot deliver on time. Capping it is the only reason we can promise a date and mean it.

Nothing here is stock

Media, binder stock, gasket and packaging are bought with your order. There is no shelf of unsold product behind this page and no money tied up in inventory — which is also why a cancelled order in the first week costs us nothing, and why we can refund it in full without an argument.

Parts are ordered the day after your cancellation window closes, not before. That is the honest reason the window exists: it is not a formality we are trying to steer you past, it is the point at which your money becomes committed and ours does too.

Why we quote 21 days and build in 16

Everything in this category is either assembled after you order it or sitting in a warehouse you have never seen. We are the first kind, and the lead time is the price of that.

Under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002, if a seller delivers more than 30 days after the promised date, the buyer can cancel and demand a full refund. That makes the promised date a liability, not a boast — so we quote a date we can beat. Our build takes 16 days. We publish 21. That gives us five days of slack we do not intend to use and 51 days of room before the legal cliff, and it means the realistic outcome for you is an early delivery rather than an apologetic email.

That 21 days belongs to the Core Kit. A Shielded Case reservation carries no fixed date yet: Batch 02 is built after the first enclosure is measured, and we email the ship date to every reservation holder once that measurement is published. We would rather send you a date we can beat than print one we have not measured.

Day by day, from payment to your door — Core Kit

  1. Day 0 — you pay, and the agreement lands in your inbox the same day. This is a prepayment: card charged now, in full, which is what lets us buy the parts at all. We say so here rather than in a footnote.
  2. Day 2 — funds settle to our account. Nothing is ordered yet. On a new payment account the first payout can take longer; if that happens, it delays our parts order and never your refund.
  3. Day 7 — your cancellation window closes. Until this day, nothing has been bought for your kit. Cancel here and you cost us nothing and get everything back.
  4. Day 8 — parts ordered. Media, gasket, binder stock, packaging.
  5. Day 13 — parts arrive. Metal is cut to order and takes about two days; electronics three to five.
  6. Day 15 — built, tested, printed and packed. You get a photograph of your kit being built, tagged to your order.
  7. Day 16 — shipped with tracking.
  8. Day 21 — the date we promised. If it has not shipped by now, the cancellation and refund terms below are yours to use, without needing a reason.

Yes — the Shielded Case is for sale now, and here is the guarantee that makes that honest. There is still no attenuation number on this website: every band on our measurement table reads “pending bench test”, and we are not going to publish a figure we have not measured. What we will do instead is take your reservation before the measurement under a guarantee you can hold us to: every case ships with its own per-unit attenuation test sheet, and if the assembled enclosure measures below 30 dB anywhere from 1–500 MHz, we refund in full.

We state the bar out loud — 30 dB across 1–500 MHz — so that you can decide for yourself whether it is good enough before you pay, not after. If the assembled enclosure cannot clear it, you are not left holding a case that failed a number we picked ourselves.

The sequence has not changed: the first four Core Kits fund the analyser and the network analyser, we build the first enclosure, measure it flat-sample and then as an assembled lid, log the attenuation in dB by band from 1 to 500 MHz, and publish that table on this site before any case ships. Batch 02 is built after the first enclosure is measured.

Your rights stack rather than replace each other: the 7-day cooling-off period below still applies to a reservation, and if we deliver more than 30 days past the ship date we emailed you, you may still cancel for a full refund at any time. The 30 dB guarantee sits on top of both. A Batch 02 reservation carries no fixed ship date: we email the ship date to every reservation holder once the measurement is published, and we will not promise a date we cannot beat.

Cancellation, returns and refunds

  1. Within 7 days of receiving the agreement, you may cancel for any reason and receive a full refund. No explanation required, no reason asked for. Email us and we process it within 15 days. On a Shielded Case reservation this sits on top of the 30 dB guarantee, not instead of it.
  2. After 7 days, once parts have been ordered for your kit, cancellation is at our discretion and may be subject to the cost of the parts already purchased for your order. We will show you those costs before we deduct anything.
  3. If we deliver more than 30 days after the promised date, you may cancel and receive a full refund at any time, and we will not argue about it.
  4. If the assembled Shielded Case measures below 30 dB anywhere from 1–500 MHz, you may cancel and receive a full refund at any time, including after the case has shipped.
  5. Defective on arrival? Contact us. We replace it or refund it, whichever you prefer.
  6. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.

Why a registered business matters to you. You have a named supplier, a business address and a phone number to call, and a real entity standing behind the order — not an anonymous storefront that can vanish with your money. It is also why we can say plainly that a cancellation gets refunded in 15 days and mean it: there is a business to hold to it. The supplier’s name, address and telephone number are printed above and on every receipt: that is who you are dealing with, and who a refund comes from.
