The power will go out again.
Be the house that’s ready.
Three original digital products for rural Canadian households: what to do when the grid drops on a February night, the spreadsheets that turn “I should get more water” into litres, containers and a rotation date, and a scored audit that finds the weak point before a storm finds it. Metric first, Canadian dollars, a −25 °C planning temperature, well water and septic. No FEMA regions, no relabelled American product, no borrowed chapters.
The three products
Each one stands on its own at its own depth. The audit is the cheap entry point, the playbook is the doctrine, and the calculators are the one you will open every week. Every price is in CAD and every file downloads the moment you pay.
Winter Grid-Down Playbook
An ice storm takes your power for three days in February. This is what you do, in what order, with the numbers to prove it.
- Nine chapters in threat order — heat, water, food, sanitation, power, medical, comms, security, recovery
- A 72-hour drill with 20 numeric pass/fail tests
- Cost tiers: $250 core · $462 complete · $750 · $2,500
- One no-exceptions combustion rule, and 6 m (20 ft) generator clearance
- A chapter on what the book does not cover
Preparedness Calculator Pack
Seven live-formula spreadsheets that turn “I should get more water” into the litres, the container count, the fuel burn and the rotation date for your household.
- Water storage in litres and containers, with a rotation date
- A canning planner that fails closed — a low-acid product returns PRESSURE CANNER REQUIRED and never a boiling-water bath
- Winter solar sizing on December’s 1.5–1.8 peak-sun-hours, not June’s 5.8
- Generator fuel burn and storage life · wood heat from your real floor area · tier subtotals
Family Preparedness Audit + Plan Template
Score your household honestly across ten domains, then get the remediation order — weakest first, but heat and water always outrank everything else.
- 75 questions scored 0–3, out of 225 — numeric, verifiable, not vibes
- Bands from critical to resilient, with five override items that jump the queue
- A 14-page plan template with owners, dates and a signed review page
- Canadian references: Alert Ready, 211 Ontario, TSSA and CSA B149.1, CSA B365 and WETT
The complete kit
The Complete Preparedness Kit
The audit tells you where you are weak. The calculators tell you how much you need. The playbook tells you what to do at 3 a.m. when the house is at 9 °C.
$27 + $39 + $15 = $81 bought separately. As the kit: $65. That is $16 less for the same four files.

Written for a Canadian winter, not a Texan summer
Most preparedness material in circulation was written for a different country, a different climate and a different kind of house. The difference is not tone. It is the numbers and where they come from.
| What most material does | What these do |
|---|---|
| US gallons, °F, FEMA regions, “just evacuate” | Metric throughout, with Imperial in brackets only where a reader meets one on a label or an American product. Ontario alerting and road systems treated as they actually behave. |
| Summers and mild winters | A −25 °C planning temperature, 1.5–1.8 winter peak-sun-hours, frozen plumbing, a well and a pump house instead of a municipal main |
| Checklists that end in “be prepared” | Drills with numeric pass/fail thresholds — and, in every product, a stated list of what it does not cover |
| Advice with no arithmetic | Litres, watt-hours, litres of fuel per hour, cords, calories, dollars. Each figure is a formula you can check. |
| Content assembled out of other people’s books | Written from scratch. No copied chapters, no relabelled American product, and no US federal doctrine reproduced. |
Where the hardware line fits. These three products are documents. They tell you how much water, fuel, food and wood to store and in what order to buy it — they cannot store a litre for you. If you want part of that answer in a form that keeps working with no power and no internet — a sealed case with a plain-text library and a local assistant that cites the book and page it came from — that is COLDSTART ANCHOR, the other half of this shop, built to order in Ontario.
Questions
Is this written for Canada?
Yes — rural Ontario specifically: metric units, CAD prices, Canadian winter temperatures, well and septic systems, and heat sources that exist here. Propane siting and cylinders are cited to the TSSA under CSA B149.1, solid-fuel installation to CSA B365 with WETT inspection, and wood-stove certification to CSA B415.1 rather than the US EPA label. It is not a relabelled American product.
Do I need a generator, a wood stove or a well to use this?
No. Each is treated as an option with its trade-offs, including the honest case that a generator you cannot fuel, or an interlock you have not installed, is a liability rather than an asset — and that a 3,500 W set cannot start a 1.5 hp submersible well pump. The audit starts from what you actually have.
Can I print the PDFs?
Yes, and you should. The audit and the plan template are designed to be filled in by hand and kept where the household can find them in the dark. One household, unlimited personal printing.
Does the spreadsheet need Excel?
No. It is a standard .xlsx workbook; Excel, LibreOffice and Numbers all open it, and the formulas are live in each one. Every assumption is documented on the sheet it belongs to.
What isn’t covered?
Firearms, tactics and defensive planning. Medical and legal advice. Long-term collapse and off-grid living — this line is for the 72-hour to 14-day window in a house that will be reconnected. Each product states its own limits, and the playbook carries a chapter called “What This Book Does Not Cover”.
Is the kit a different product, or the same files for less?
The same four files, the same licence, $65 instead of $81. Nothing is added, nothing is removed, and nothing is held back for a later upsell.
Buying, delivery and what you may do with the files
Instant download on payment, one household per licence, unlimited personal printing, no expiry and nothing to activate. Refund and licence terms are stated in full on the terms page.
